Multi-Zone Open Tilting Rotary Tube Furnace
The multi-zone tilting rotary tube furnace is an advanced industrial furnace designed for precise thermal processing. Such tube furnaces are often used for short-term heating of continuously (or semi-continuously). The working tube is kept slightly inclined at the target temperature, so that material fed from the top enters the heated zone and passes through three independently controlled temperature zones before being discharged at the bottom. By appropriately adjusting the tilt angle and rotation speed, the system can create the desired temperature gradient or a long uniform heating zone, meeting various experimental and process requirement.
Multiple-Zone Independent Temperature Control
It features three independently controllable heating zones, each with its own PID temperature controller and thermocouple. The temperature of each zone can be set individually, allowing a gradient or a uniform long constant-temperature region across all zones. This zoned control design enables optimization of the thermal profile according to process needs. For example, one end can be set to a higher temperature for baking and the other end to a lower preheat temperature, improving process flexibility and reaction consistency. Independent control also compensates for end losses, ensuring accurate and stable temperature in each zone and yielding a more uniform thermal field overall.
Top-Open Furnace Chamber Structure
The furnace features a split (top-opening) chamber design, where the housing can be separated along its length like a hinged lid. This top-open structure allows operators to quickly replace or clean the tube and easily observe the interior, greatly improving maintenance efficiency and safety. For safety, a limit switch is often installed: if the furnace is opened, power to the heaters is automatically cut off, preventing accidents. In addition, the split housing typically has a double-layer or fan-cooled design so that the outer surface remains cool, further enhancing operational safety and reducing energy loss.
Adjustable Tilt Angle 0–10°
The tube tilt angle is adjustable (typically 0–10°) to meet different process requirements. By changing the inclination, the residence time of the material in the heated zone can be increased or decreased: a larger angle causes material to move faster and reduces reaction time, while a smaller angle makes material stay longer for more complete heating. The tilting mechanism may be a manual crank or an electric actuator, often equipped with a digital angle display for precise adjustment. This adjustable tilt design makes the process more flexible, allowing precise control over reaction rates, decomposition time, and other key parameters.
 
Rotatable Tube with Adjustable Speed 1–10 RPM
The furnace is equipped with a rotatable working tube, typically with a speed range of 1–10 RPM that can be continuously adjusted. Rotation continuously stirs the material: as the charge tumbles and mixes inside the rotating tube, hot spots and agglomeration are prevented, ensuring more uniform heating of the material. This uniform heating and stirring help improve reaction consistency and product quality. The rotation is driven by a geared electric motor, providing smooth, reliable operation suitable for long continuous runs. Multiple speed settings allow the user to choose the optimal rotation rate for different materials (e.g. powders, granules, or elongated pellets), further optimizing the process.
 
Control Panel & Operational Convenience
The control panel is designed for intuitive operation, typically combining knobs, digital displays, and soft-touch buttons. Operators can directly adjust key parameters like feed rate and tube rotation speed via the knobs without complex programming, making the system easy to learn and use. Modern furnaces usually feature PLC or high-precision PID controllers that support multi-step ramping, hold profiles, and over-temperature alarms, ensuring precise temperature control and operational safety. Safety features such as an emergency stop button and interlock indicators make the system suitable for long-term, unattended continuous operation. The overall design emphasizes ease of use and reliability, allowing operators to quickly master the controls and significantly reducing labor intensity and human error.
